This small heron species is commonly found in wetlands and near water bodies across southern Iran, Pakistan, India, Burma, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

• বৈজ্ঞানিক নাম: এর বৈজ্ঞানিক নাম হলো Ardeola grayii। 

• বাসস্থান: এদের সাধারণত ধানক্ষেত, জলাশয়, খাল এবং ব-দ্বীপ অঞ্চলে দেখা যায়। 

• শারীরিক বৈশিষ্ট্য: এদের লালচে মেটে রঙের উপর পিঠে ও বুকে খয়েরি রঙের লম্বা ডোরা থাকে। প্রজননকালে পুরুষ পাখির পিঠে বাদামী ছোপ এবং ঠোঁটে বিভিন্ন রঙের বাহার দেখা যায়।
